Drink to me only

Le titre de ce solo de bugle est tiré d’un poème anglais du XVIIe siècle de Ben Johnson qui commence par « Drink to me only with thine eyes, and I will pledge with mine ». Sa mélodie familière est attribuée au colonel R. Mellish (1777-1817). Cette version solo a été écrite pour le New York Staff Band en 1991. Au sein de l’église de l’Armée du Salut, la mélodie est associée à un texte religieux de William Drake Pennick (1884-1944) qui commence par « There is a holy hill of God, its heights by faith I see ». (The Song Book of The Salvation Army, n° 627).

Le New York Staff Band a enregistré ce solo sur son CD de 1992, Under Three Flags (Triumphonic TRCD 1050).
